It's never too early.....To prevent diabetes

1-hour oral glucose challenge test

  • You will drink a sugar drink
  • An hour later, you will have your blood drawn to test your blood sugar

If your blood sugar is high, your provider will do a second test. This helps the doctor to know for sure whether you have gestational diabetes.

  • You cannot eat or drink anything but water for at least 8 to 14 hours before the test
  • You will have your blood drawn to test your blood sugar
  • You will drink a sugar drink
  • You will have your blood drawn three more times. This happens each hour over 3 hours.
